Pontypool Publication

As well as the exhibition, students and tutors have been hard at work to create this free publication. Copies will go out on the 13th through the free press of Pontypool. So if you live locally expect a photographic treat through your letter box!

And don't forget to come to the exhibition, where you will be able to pick up a free copy along with seeing great work, drink and company.

PontyPool Hoarding

Congratulations are in order to the student photography Jake Gardiner who has
been chosen to have his work erected as a hoarding within Pontypool. Gardiner has also been shortlisted for the Boutgraphies Festival in Monpelier.

Jake Gardiner (Current 2nd Year)
Welsh Slag
This project aims to look at how stunning images can be found in the most unassuming places. Within the Pontypool constituency is the ‘Big Pit’ world heritage sight, which stands as a monument to the influences the area had during the industrial revolution. Searching for beauty in what was left behind from this golden era, the artist studied samples of slag through a microscope. The artist discovered that what may seem like waste to the naked eye – when you dig deeper – can be incredibly beautiful.

PONTYPOOL EXHIBITION

After a few months of 2nd year Photo Art students getting involved with the community, from the market stalls to the streets, we've reached the time to showcase the work in Pontypool. The exhibitions will take place in various locations, from the Market stalls, Crane Street, Commercial Street and George Street. All of the photographers and Artists will be present to talk about their work and greet the public, as we celebrate whats been a creative and enjoyable past few months.

As well as the exhibition, there is a publication designed by Oliver Norcott which will be launched within the free press on the 13th March, copies will also be available at the exhibition.
